A Pentacorder is the easiest wind instrument to learn for people of any age. No thumb-hole is needed. Play two octaves with only two fingers of each hand! There is no other flute-instrument capable of doing that. These two-part models can be pitch-adjusted by moving joints slightly in or out.
Tune books with a variety of pentatonic tunes are listed below. One head section and two bodies of same diameter make economical sets. See listings below.
All sizes are available in black or rosewood brown. A thumbrest, fingering chart, joint grease and a vinyl carrying pouch are included in the price.
Susato Keyed Pentacorders
Keyed Pentacorders with 4 keys are designed to be played with only one hand. Either the left or the right hand can be used. The other hand can play a drum, a hurdy-gurdy drone, or other rhythm instrument at the same time.
People unable to use both hands for playing a musical instrument will find it very enjoyable to play a 4-keyed Pentacorder with only one hand.
Unlike a Tabor-Pipe which starts its scale with the first harmonic, the sound of a Pentacorder starts with the fundamental, the lowest note!
Currently we make 4-keyed Pentacorders with a lowest note of -G- and -A-. (see the chart above) A two-hands, open tone-holes version and a one-hand version with four keys are shown on the right.
