The 3-string set consists of a low drone string, made of nylon, wound with silverplated copper wire, a high drone of monofilament nylon, and a melody string of plain gut.
It is possible to tune the same strings up to one whole-tone higher or lower than the nominal pitches for which the string gauges were chosen -with some change in sound-volume- but still acceptable sound quality.
