Kildare models in high -Eb- and high -D- exist in the -V- and the -S- series. If in doubt, we recommend the -S- series as the richer and fuller sounding version. The -V- series -Eb- and -D- have a slightly smaller body diameter and therefore sound softer.
All Kildare models have separate head and body sections with a slightly tapered bore. Pitch can be easily adjusted by pulling jointed sections in or out as needed. Unlike chromatic Recorders, Pennywhistles are diatonic instruments, requiring many sizes to make playing in all keys (tonalities) possible.
The most popular sizes are in the keys of high -D- and low -G-. Whistle body sections of the same series are interchangeable with a head section of the same series. Economical sets of whistles are available in which a single head section is provided along with multiple bodies for playing in different keys.
Kildare two-piece models include a fingering chart, thumbrest, joint grease, and a vinyl pouch.
All whistles above are available in black or rosewood brown.
Longer whistles can be more comfortably played with Susato Keys over tone holes too far apart for small hands. Note the Susato Keys on low -C- to low -F#- whistles, the difference in playability is enormous!
All Kildare two-piece models include a fingering chart, thumbrest, joint grease, and a vinyl pouch. Additonal Susato Keys can be mounted over ANY tone holes that are difficult to reach on any instrument of the -M-, -L-, or -LX- series Pennywhistles for an extra $25.00 per key. Keys are placed for right-handed players, but can be mounted for left-handed players as well at no extra cost.
