A collection of 375 jigs, reels, hornpipes, marches and waltzes. Selected and edited by fiddler and piano player Randy Miller, this book includes tunes from new England, Ireland, Scotland, Shetland, the north of England and the Cape Breton. Many of the tunes may be played for contra dances. Randy Miller's pencil drawing on the cover shows the fiddler's throne in the ballroom of the 1805 Mack Tavern in Deerfield, New Hampshire. Few such antique, yet practical dance halls, remain in New England.
Contains contemporary as well as vintage tunes. Includes composer index, bibliography, discography and background notes on the tunes. Published in 2004, 246 pages, 8.5 in. x 7 in., spiral bound.
